🏜️ Terraforming Begins
This is the biggest update yet—and it brings Sandscapes closer to its original vision: a living, breathing sandbox where creativity meets emergent ecosystems.
🎨 Brush Panel Overhaul
The brush system just got a major upgrade:
- Custom Brushes: Users can now design their own brushes:
- Color Cycling Brushes with adjustable speed, blend modes, and random opacity—endless possibilities.
- Static Brushes for precise, personal expression.
- Local Storage: Your custom brushes are now saved locally. Plus, a handy reset palette button in settings.
- Improved Navigation:
- Scroll the brush panel with two fingers or click-and-drag.
- Visible brushes are now capped at 36, making mobile interaction smoother and more intuitive.
🧱 New Brushes & Emergent Behavior
- Wall Brushes (x5): These use cellular automata to grow organically as you paint. They also support color cycling for dynamic visuals.
- Cloud Brush: A game-changer! Spawns rain particles that evaporate over time. Can randomly spawn seeds, which grow into flowers and trees. This marks the beginning of Sandscapes as a terraforming experience—start with sand, end with life.
🖼️ Export Enhancements
- You can now download your canvas with a transparent background, perfect for layering or remixing.
🔧 Tweaks & Experiments
- Water Brush: Now seeps into the ground and disappears instead of pooling. Still buggy, but heading toward more realistic behavior.
- Lava + Water: Interaction now produces steam, adding a bit more elemental drama.
🐛 Known Bugs
- Sand-on-Water Duplication: When sand lands on water, it sometimes duplicates the water. Still investigating.
